David Williams’ Candidacy for County Commissioner

January 20, 2010

Today I reaffirm my candidacy for El Paso County Commissioner in District 5. I believe that one of the greatest privileges anyone could fulfill is public service, which is an honorable and humbling task. The county needs a commissioner that will stand for what’s right; a commissioner that will work to ensure that everyone can enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This county deserves representation that is dedicated to providing limited government, low taxes, adequate public safety, and fiscal responsibility. Additionally, our county commissioners should efficiently administer and maintain county infrastructure, intelligently plan for growth and development, and protect private property rights.

I believe in El Paso County and I know that the 2010 election is not about the candidates or campaigns. The 2010 election is about the people and their resolve to make El Paso County a better place for future generations. The problems of our county are not too big, or too great that they can’t be solved with a common sense approach. The county needs a new birth of representation that can provide ideas that have withstood the test of time.

I am not a politician and have no entrenched interests other than those that concern the average, everyday citizen. I know that I’m not a typical candidate, but I do know that El Paso County wants a genuine public servant; a servant who believes in what’s right and has the will to act on those beliefs, regardless of the consequences. I’m 23 years old, happily married, very blessed, and ready to serve.
