David Williams is the former UCCS Student Body President and former co-chairman of the UCCS College Republicans. The student-run government at UCCS is modeled after our federal government. It’s composed of three separate branches: the executive, the legislative and the judicial. Together they create, implement, and oversee a budget of over 200,000 dollars. The student-run government is not only the liaison between the students and the administration, but also between the university and the surrounding community.

David is currently serves as a Bonus Member for the El Paso County Republican Party. As a Bonus Member he serves on the party’s Outreach Committee, which is tasked with attracting unaffiliated, independent, and democratic voters to the Republican Party. He also served as a delegate to the county assembly and Colorado State Convention in 2008.

David grew up in a military family where hard work and sacrifice was taught. It is here that he learned the importance of our country and its impact on this world.  A deep commitment to faith, patriotism, and civic duty are the cornerstone of his upbringing and are a continual source of strength and guidance.

His deep dedication to a strong moral foundation was also shaped by his family and their steadfast commitment to attending church. David has served in several roles at the church and currently serves as an usher at the church he now attends. Church is where he developed a stronger appreciation for service and sacrifice. He believes that a strong moral foundation is an essential asset when publically serving in an elected office.

David met his wife, Emily, his senior year of high school. They dated during their first years of college and married prior to graduating. Being tested both financially and emotionally, as college students and newlyweds, further shaped David’s character. While attending college full-time, he also worked full-time to support his wife. Wanting to make a difference at UCCS, David decided to run for the Senate. After serving as a senator for one term, he then made a lateral move and became an associate justice for the university’s Judicial Board. David eventually ran and won the Presidency; an office that serves over 8000 constituents.

While serving UCCS for three years, David was committed to limited government, fiscal responsibility, government transparency and accountability. He worked tirelessly to curb wasteful spending and to reduce taxes/fees for his fellow students. David also stood up for the free speech and religious rights of all students at UCCS.

David believes in the founding principles of this nation and the moral obligation of passing them on to future generations. He believes the role of government should be a limited one, as defined in the Constitution. He also believes the government can foster an environment of prosperity by lowering taxes and light regulation of private industry.

David is committed to common-sense government, based on the founding principles of our country. With your help, David will build a stronger El Paso.
